This book presents the main ways in which black and coloured inks can be made, essentially from plants common to our regions.
For each colour, Elisabeth Dumont presents the corresponding plants, how to recognise them in nature and how to use them: first, the historical recipes, which take you on a journey through the sometimes ancient history of ink manufacture, then the recipes tried out by the author in her workshop and the range of colours obtained. Additional information on lacquers, how to make a calamus and the importance of paper in working with vegetable inks complete the book.
